Bordados Zuleta; mantelería fina, bordada a mano por un grupo de 120 mujeres campesinas asociadas en el norte del Ecuador, se puede lava a maquina, no salen los colores,

Candelabros Pauta; es un artesano del sur del Ecuador, el trabajo es realizado aq mano con hierro forjado. Artículos: candelabros, porta inciensos, campanas, ceniceros, porta servilletas entre otros.

Collares indígenas dorados; elaborados a mano con vidrio soplado y un baño de oro, algunos collares son convinados con coralina.

Collares de concha nacar; convidados con plata y coral.

Vasos y copas con vidrio hecho a mano; elaborados a mano con vidrio reciclado.

Camisetas bordadas a mano; elaborado por un grupo de 120 mujeres campesinas del sur del Ecuador.

GUSTAVO VELASCO

Ecuadorian painter. He has worked during several years with Gonzalo Endara Crow in the early nineties.

Today, Velasco is one of the proponent of the naïve style of fantastic realism, which corresponds in Latin American visual art realism in literature and constitutes a typically Latin American expression of the paradoxes of everyday reality.

In his studies of the life of the mestizo population of the Andean World, Gustavo Velasco chooses themes based on people’s daily lifes, depicting, for example, horses pulling bells up the sides of mountains and animals and birds peering out from the upper floors of picturesque provincial houses, in images bordering on magic and the bizarre.

In his painting, Velasco is working with the technique of acrylic.

GUSTAVO MOSQUERA

Ecuadorian painter and sculptor born in 1962. Mosquera is the only Ecuadorian painter who is a specialist in pointillism, a technique of impressionist painting, developed by Seurat to give painting greater luminosity, in which pigment is applied in small spots of various pure colours which are blended by the spectator´s eye.

For Mosquera, the colourful spots are the symbolof the fruits and grapes that can be found in abundance in his homeland. In his painting Mosquera is working in acrylic.
Mosquera has been invited by several art galleries around the world (Switzerland, USA, Japan for example)

CATASSE

Biografia

Carlos Tapia Sepúlveda, pintor bajo el seudónimo de Catasse. Nació en Santiago el 25 de Octubre de 1944.

Se interesó desde niño por la pintura por lo que se considera un artista autodidacta. Realizó estudios en la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas de Santiago.

En 1969 se radicó en Ecuador donde conoció la pintura americanista de Osvaldo Guayasamin y de Enrique Tabará, quien había trabajado junto a Tapies en España.

ESTRATEGIA VISUAL

Su pintura al óleo transita entre la neofiguración y la abstracción. Aborda los temas de la figura humana, el retrato y el paisaje en obras que se caracterizan por la variedad de colores asociados al continente sudamericano. Le interesa crear un entorno dentro del cuadro más que detallar figuras, identificándose de este modo la obra con el color. Muchas de las imágenes y personajes de sus cuadros han surgido de sus viajes por Latinoamérica, la lectura de Borges, García Márquez, Cortázar y especialmente Juan Rulfo, sus fuentes de inspiración

WHITMAN GUALSAQUI

INTRODUCTION

Gualsaquí is the Otavalean painter with a pictorial virtuosity that comes from the connection of his life with the profound identity of his people through rituals, traditions and the rich fusion of cultures that transform into a magic environment of syncretism.

Gualsaquí is one of the painters that come as a result of a compromised formative process, a searcher of the perfect harmony between his brushes and palettes with his inner self and his collective self, work demonstrated by discipline, with a reflective method and with patience to demonstrate en reality the exquisite handling of form.

GUALSAQUI

OR SYNCRONISM OF LIFE

This is not an análisis of the work of Whitman Gualsaquí, because his paintings, his colors and his shapes speak for themselves. Whoever looks at a work of Gualsaquí can corroborate this concept.

Gualsaquí is the painter of the indigenous essence, the consequence of life, the proud victim of family, artisan, constructors and painters’ genetism. The ancestor virtuosity was polished on him with exaggeration helped by his patience and discipline.

Gualsaquí is one of those silent painters, committed to his life, to his university principles and inner values. He is a unique kind of painter, because he doesn’t look for recognition, he is not interested in being part of the elite groups that at the end are excluding. Whitman Gualsaquí is the attainable artist for his people, the one who always comes back to his magic town and neighborhood with spots of marginality, to share with his people the reward of life.

Who could say with just looking at him, that he is the painter who has traveled around the world with his work, because his simplicity is not fake. Gualsaquí is the man of the friendly hand, of infinite sensibility, of enormous capacity to recognize himself as part of his town which in turn can be seen on him.

There is the greatness of this painter of the people, who flies high in his permanent humbleness, in his innate solidarity, for the result of his works now sold at a national and international level.

His artistic expression speaks for itself of the importance of this still young man, of the majestic strokes of his brush, of his shapes and colors, of his faces that carry with them the traces his daughter and in them the features of all girls of his race and his prideful identity.

Gualsaquí is the tradition of the Andean man, who moves through the galaxies of his dreams baptized with the chromatic of his native environment, the same who grabs on with canine fidelity to his vigilant hills; to his flowers and to all of his aromas and colors, to his temples with processions of people, to his innocent girls carrying guilts and hopes.

Those who know Gualsaquí know the blue side of his being, and those who look at his work know the man without needing to treat him or talk to him, because the canvas of the artist are no longer his, in them is his essence and now they have left his hands, that is why whoever looks at his work, enjoys and comprehends what is written.
